Dakota Pipeline Protest
A movement against the construction of the Energy Transfer Partner's Dakota Pipeline. The pipeline would have run near the Standing Rock Indian Reservation. Sparking a debate and protest against Native America's rights, and against the pipeline and oil use.
Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill
On April 20, 2010, the largest marine oil spill in volume occurred on the Gulf of Mexico operated by BP Macondo Prospect. The spill lasted until September 4, 2010.
Great Australian Blight Oil Drilling
A Norwegian oil company plans to create an oil drill deep within the Blight. With this drill, they can produce hundreds of new jobs, but the risk of an oil spill is grander than that of the Gulf Coast oil spill of 2010.
